Trump-Approved Republican Nominee for Pennsylvania’s Eighth Congressional District, Jim Bognet Told SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Saturday this weekend that his opponent, Democrat Rep. Matt Cartwright (PA), a “typical liberal” is because he doesn’t pay his own taxes, but wants to raise them for everyone else.
“So typical of the liberals,” he said, and he said the Democrats’ thinking process is, “Taxes are for other people. Let’s raise taxes on other people and hire IRS agents when we don’t even pay our own taxes.
Bognet referred to a recent report that showed Cartwright had to pay $436.63 in fines and interest for late payment of property taxes for his Washington, DC apartment, which the congressman shares with his wife. This, of course, is after an investigation for another tax debt he had three years earlier.
“What really annoys me is that he’s going to vote to raise our taxes and end up in a recession. He’s already voted to have 80,000 more IRS agents, an ungodly number of IRS agents,” he said.

Now that the congressman has become more vulnerable, his track record has come under closer scrutiny, especially with a tough November Republican competitor like Bognet. During the latest election cycle, it was revealed that between 2013 and 2018, Cartwright regularly made late payments and collected thousands of dollars in fines and interest, which he labeled “supervision.” Cartwright also received a notice in 2015 from the city threatening to put his apartment up for sale if his accrued back taxes were not paid.
“It’s so characteristic of the liberals that the rules are only for other people, but we don’t have to follow them. And that’s what happens when you have so little contact. You have your own private jet. You’ve been in Congress for ten years. We need to fix this,” he added.

Bognet also hammered at Cartwright for his radical voting, which hurts the Pennsylvanians. As Breitbart News previously reported, Cartwright to vote with Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) 99 percent of the time and with President Joe Biden 100 per cent of the time.
In turn, while it is unclear whether Cartwright would? to vote for the Manchin-Schumer ‘Inflation Reduction’ Bill that is supposed to raise taxes on middle-income earners. Bognet hinted that Cartwright’s record speaks for itself.
“He’s going to raise taxes as he goes into recession, and we know he’s going to vote for it because he’s voting with Joe Biden 100% of the time,” he stated. “A vote for Matt Cartwright is a vote for the liberal agenda of Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi. … We can’t stand it anymore. People are being crushed here in Northeastern Pennsylvania.”
“Beating Cartwright is so important because this is Joe Biden’s hometown, Scranton, Pennsylvania,” Bognet said.
Bognet noted that Republican house whip Steve Scalise recently campaigned with him, explaining that “if we beat Joe Biden’s lap dog, Matt Cartwright, in Joe Biden’s hometown of Scranton, it will be a signal that we reject the liberal agenda. One day after the election it will be the front page of the papers, ‘Biden defeated in his hometown’.”
