New Zealand won the first women’s cricket medal awarded at a Commonwealth Games, beating England comfortably to bronze in Edgbaston.

The White Ferns needed less than 12 overs to reach their goal of 111 after host nation England were limited to 110-9 of their 20 overs.

Captain Sophie Devine topped the score with an unbeaten 51 as the Kiwis ran home for the loss of just two wickets.

Favorites Australia now face India at 5pm BST for the gold medal.
