Cabot adds that Hunt began voicing a desire for a new expansion in June, but no meaningful talks have yet taken place.
Hunt is in the final year of a $13.25 million two-year extension. He has spent the past three seasons with Cleveland, culminating in an 841-yard, six-touchdown season in 2020. After signing extra time the following offseason, Hunt struggled with injuries last year and played the entire season. in just eight games.

Hunt, however, remains behind Nick Chubb on the depth map. Despite the Browns’ intention to involve both running backs, Chubb remains in the lead after three consecutive 1,000-yard seasons and four consecutive seasons with at least eight touchdowns.
Cleveland has used Hunt in more receiving roles than Chubb as both have been teammates, with Hunt leading Chubb in both receptions and receiving yards since 2019. The Browns have signed Chubb through 2024 thanks to a $36 million three-year contract beginning this season.
This is not new territory for the Browns, who initially denied Baker Mayfield‘s trade request in March before trading for Deshaun Watson.
