Allan Saint Maximin donates Rolex watch to Newcastle fan after opening day win


After helping his side record a 20 win over newly promoted Forest, Saint Maximin was in a generous mood when he handed a Rolex to a Newcastle fan who was holding a French flag with the winger’s name and number on it.

The fan, Steve Duttonwhich was at the end of Saint .’s kind gesture Maximin said on Twitter: “I was the person who got the watch as a gift from ASM. I was completely speechless. I thought he was coming to sign autographs and take pictures with the kids. I’m still in shock, can’t thank @saintmaximin enough.”

This was not the first time Saint Maximin watch a fan as a gift, he did exactly the same in December 2021.

The fan, Michael Urwin spoke to Chronicle Live after receiving the gift from Saint Maximin.

He said: “He got out of his car and came to where I was standing and handed me a box and said, ‘This is for you’. I was shaking, to be honest, but he was pretty excited and was just saying, ‘Open it, open it!’

Since his arrival in St. James Park, Saint Maximin is a fan favorite, as his dazzling skills and tremendous speed captured the hearts of the Newcastle stalwarts.

He again played a key role in the game against Forest, giving Steve Cooper’s defense a scorching time, especially right-back Neco Williams, who struggled with the sheer speed of the French winger.

Fabian Schar’s stunning long range effort gave Eddie Howe’s side the lead in the 58th minute, Forest put in a brave performance as they looked for the equaliser. However, a goal in the 78th minute by callum Wilson made sure all three points would stay in St. James Park.

There is renewed optimism among Newcastle fans after a strong performance towards the end of last season.

After spending a lot of money on people like Nick Pope, Sven botman and Matt goalthe fans expect a top half as the bare minimum, and some hope the team can push for a place in European football.

Howe hinted that the club’s transfer window may not be over yet, saying: “I like the individuals we have, but I’d like to add a little more quality to that if possible.”

Next Saturday for Newcastle is Brighton.
